RDP Placement Details
RACHELS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME & Jo Bayley
This description outlines the terms of a voluntary placement organised by 2Way Development for Jo Bayley (Volunteer, UK) within RACHELS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (Host Organisation, Kenya). This placement will commence in the month of September 2008 and will last for 12 months minimum. During this time, 2Way Development asks both the Host Organisation and volunteer to adhere to this placement description and the general terms and conditions it entails.
Specific Placement Description
1. Community Development Related Activities:
This includes training groups on capacity building and income generating activities and community mobilization and empowerment.
2. Fundraising:
§ Project proposal development
§ Report writing and marketing
§ Developing donor lists and relations including reporting and updates
§ Monitoring and evaluation of project proposals
§ Oversee successful fund utilization and accountability
§ Setting up an endowment fund and asset building in order to ensure sustainable strategies for projects
§ Development of international friends circles
3. Project Management:
§ Development of Community Action Plans
§ Undertake participatory research
§ Project cycle management
§ Project monitoring and evaluation
§ Developing of project tools i.e. logical frame work, objectives and problems in collaboration with target communities.
§ Project budgeting
§ Project implementation
4. Health and HIV/AIDS:
§ Setting up free medical camps within marginalized communities
§ Outreach medical visitation and counselling
§ Community health education especially on prevention of communicable diseases
§ Developing of community HIV/AIDS best practice in prevention and control
§ Oversee activities of a standby medical clinic
§ Sourcing of drugs from corporate sector and other donors
5. Staff Development:
This will include training staff on project management, empowering communities, fundraising, project proposal writing, Information Technology, and strategies of setting up participatory viable projects.
